As construction manager at risk, Hammond partnered with Strongsville City Schools to build a new 6–8 middle school and complete extensive renovations to Strongsville High School. The new middle school project was built on a site directly behind the existing middle school building. Careful planning was established and executed due to the adjacency of many Strongsville residential homes, the existing middle school (operational) and the District’s board offices. Hammond developed a schedule and logistics plan that addressed the demolition of several ancillary buildings, bus and staff traffic flow, and operational needs of both the existing middle school and board offices. Hammond also completed a phased renovation of Strongsville High school that touched all areas of the 339,000 square foot building. The carefully orchestrated phasing plan was developed with district officials to maintain operations.
